Anti-Israel Policy Should Torpedo Dubai Ports Deal
Dubai Ports World, the company at the center of the debate in Washington over its pending agreement to operate six port terminals in the United States, is owned by the emirate of Dubai, which continues to support the Arab economic boycott of Israel. ADL said that fact alone should be enough to torpedo any deal with the U.S. on port operations.   More>>

    In the aftermath of Farrakhan’s speech, ADL Chicago Director Lonnie Nasatir announced his resignation from the governor’s Hate Crimes Commission “in utter disappointment” over the administration’s decision to stand by a Nation of Islam representative on the panel.  More>>


  • Murder in France Renews Concerns About Anti-Semitism
    ADL called on the French government to act swiftly in bringing to justice those responsible for the brutal murder of Ilan Halimi, a 23-year-old French Jew from Paris who was kidnapped and tortured by his captors in a crime French government officials described as anti-Semitic in nature.

  • New Jersey: Artist Puts Nazi Swastika On Torah
    The Kresge Gallery at Ramapo College offended Jews by choosing to exhibit a work that depicts a Jew holding a torah emblazoned with the Nazi swastika. New Jersey Director Etzion Neuer said Deborah Grant’s “The Old and New Testament” shocked Jews with its use of the Nazi eagle and swastika superimposed on a Torah being held by a Jew.  More>>

  • Houston: Interfaith Mission to Israel
    Thirty Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders from ADL’s Southwest Region toured the birthplace of their three religions, learned more about each other’s common roots, shared study and worship opportunities, and experienced the State of Israel on a mission sponsored by the Southwest Region’s Coalition for Mutual Respect. The group met with government, media and religious leaders, including Israel’s former chief rabbi, the U.S. consul general, a Vatican representative, and Palestinian representatives.


  • Omaha: Study Circle Brings Together Jews, Christians
    The ADL Plains States Region launched its first Jewish-Christian study circle, generating a flurry of media coverage and community interest. The innovative four-week program brought together more than 60 Jews and Christians to examine a significant passage from each tradition’s sacred texts. The group was jointly facilitated by Jewish, Catholic and Protestant clergy and scholars.

  • Boston: Archbishop Elevated
    ADL’s New England Office congratulated Archbishop Sean P. O’Malley on the announcement by Pope Benedict XVI of his elevation to the position of Cardinal of the Boston Roman Catholic Archdiocese. “This marks a new period of opportunity for relations between Jews and Catholics in Boston,” said Dennis Kanin, Board Chair and Andrew Tarsy, Regional Director.

  • Los Angeles: Law Enforcement Personnel Honored
    ADL’s Pacific Southwest Region honored four individuals and three law enforcement units for making a significant difference in their communities. The ADL Helene & Joseph Sherwood Prize for Combating Hate was presented to officials in the LA County and Riverside County sheriff’s departments, the FBI Hate Crimes Task Force, the United States Attorney’s Office and the Riverside Arson Task Force during a gala event in Los Angeles.

  • Boost for Early Childhood Education
    The Harvey L. Miller Supporting Foundation recently provided a $100,000 gift in continued support of The Miller Early Childhood Initiative of A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE®. Since 2001, the initiative’s workshops have impacted more than 50,000 early childhood educators, family members and children through 12 ADL Regional Offices.

    An editorial in the Michigan-based Arab American News engaged in Jew-baiting, whitewashed anti-Semitism and argued for a moral equivalence in response to terrorism.
