JINSA Report #626

Exceptional Voices

This week, America lost two exceptional voices, both of whom ably served
America as ambassadors to the United Nations. One, Dr. Jeane J.
Kirkpatrick, we lost to death. The other, Amb. John Bolton, we lost to
partisan politics. Both were committed members of JINSA's Board of
Advisors.

Their public voices were the same in so many ways. They were diplomats
who spoke truth to power. They were monumental thinkers unhampered by
political correctness. Without fail, their comments were right on the
mark. They said what needed to be said without embellishment. And when
you heard them speak, you were proud to be an American.

Dr. Kirkpatrick will be mourned by all those who care about the issues
JINSA was established to address. In fact, it was Dr. Kirkpatrick in the
1980s who gave JINSA one of its most memorable, oft-repeated slogans
when she said, “If JINSA did not exist, it would have to be invented.”

For those of us who believe that America is the greatest country ever,
who believe that we are a gift to the human political experience, we
take our hats off in deference and respect to these two visionaries and
patriots. One sure to be heard from again and the other never to be
forgotten.
