(2006-06-02) By agreeing in principle to open talks with the Iranian
dictatorship, President Bush has made the Europeans temporarily happy at a
steep price: a) extending the timeline for Iranian advances in nuclear
capability; b) allowing Ahmadinejad, a Holocaust denier and serial violator
of civil and human rights, to claim the prize of American recognition of the
regime; c) holding out the possibility of offering the regime security
guarantees, which in turn would d) abandon the goal of democratic revolution

Protecting Commercial Airliners from Short-Range Missiles: Airlines, Defense
Firms Debate Threat and Cost

(2006-06-08) Since the September 11 attacks, the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) has been under Congressional pressure to mandate the
installation of anti-aircraft missile countermeasure systems on American
commercial aircraft. Similar systems have been standard features on U.S.
military aircraft for decades. But the airlines and defense systems makers
cannot agree on the need nor the cost. Meanwhile, the threat grows.
