The following is the full text of this week's commentary:

Terrorists struck in Tel Aviv this week.

Nine people were killed, more than sixty wounded.

Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

Hamas, in a perverse twist of language, called this terrorist attack an act of "self-defense."

Islamic Jihad and Hamas have a lot in common.

First, they're both connected to Iran, the world's number one state sponsor of terrorism.

Second, they both seek Israel's destruction. They don't want to live alongside Israel; rather, they seek to replace Israel with an Islamist state.

And third, they've both turned religion on its head. Instead of religion being a force for good, they've created a force for evil. That evil justifies their murderous attacks. It allows them to believe they have a special place in heaven. Yeah, right!

Without giving up its deep yearning for peace, Israel is hanging tough, as it must. In doing so, it's setting an example.

After all, all nations committed to the protection of democratic values, human rights, and religious pluralism are in this battle together.
