Over the past two weeks, thousands of ADL supporters called on President Bush to mobilize an effective multinational force to protect the civilians of Darfur. Thank you - your swift action and our clear message have had an impact:

  • Friday, May 5th: The U.S. helped African Union mediators broker a peace deal with the Janjaweed Arab-Muslim militia
  • Monday, May 8th: President Bush pressed the U.N. to speed up planning for the deployment of peacekeepers to Darfur
  • Tuesday, May 9th: Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice said it was time to end the “long nightmare” in Sudan
But much work remains to be done. In our long history of battling anti-Semitism, it has become very clear that no matter what name tag you place on racism or bigotry, in the end it’s all hate. We know all too well the dire consequences of ignoring it.

ADL will continue to raise public awareness and make our collective voice heard around the world as long as genocide and the bigotry that gives rise to the inhumanity in Darfur persists. We will continue to press world leaders and refuse to let them turn a blind eye. We will continue to fight for those who are the victims of hate so they never have to stand alone in the face of bigotry and anti-Semitism.
