  • Air Force Sets Guidelines on Religious Intolerance
ADL commended the U.S. Air Force for issuing guidelines for all its personnel to protect against religious intolerance, calling it "a significant step forward," and said that implementation is the key to success. In a series of meetings with Air Force officials at the Academy in Colorado Springs and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., over the last few months, ADL had urged that steps be taken to remedy the problem of religious bias.  More>>

  • Protestant Groups Issue Statements Opposing Divestment
Two major Protestant groups repudiated calls for divestment from Israel and for taking down the West Bank security barrier. ADL said the statements show that there are many in the Christian community who believe that divestment is unjust and simply the wrong solution for promoting Israeli-Palestinian peace.

  • Death of Chief Justice Rehnquist: An Era Ends
The passing of United States Chief Justice William Rehnquist marks the end of an era. ADL’s Atlanta Regional Office has been working closely with law enforcement and the community.

  • Shas Leader’s Hurricane Remarks Condemned
The League condemned remarks by Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef on the causes of Hurricane Katrina as “outrageous in the extreme.” In a sermon, Rabbi Yosef suggested that the disaster was “God’s retribution” for President George W. Bush’s support of Israel’s disengagement from Gaza.

Times Editorial: Skewed on History, Insulting on Sharon
In a letter published in the The New York Times, ADL National Chair Barbara B. Balser strongly objected to the editorial, "The Battle for Israel's Future,” for its condensing of Israel’s history to the single issue of territorial expansion and for its insulting view of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
