passes and greater or lesser tragedies occupy cable news, but our obligation
is to remember both the horror and the heroism. And to remember what
motivates Americas ongoing war against terrorists and the states that harbor
and support them. We did not go to war because of September 11th, but rather

Desperate Days for Aviation Security

(2005-09-16) Evidence mounts that terrorists are probing U.S. aviation
security. So, how much has it improved since the devastating 9-11 attacks?
Despite expenditures of billions of dollars and the creation of new federal
bureaucracies, significant failings continue to cripple the system. As the
number of people flying is expected to surpass pre-9/11 levels in the coming
months and as the government strives to stay one step ahead of al Qaedas
plans, the skies may not be so friendly after all.
